It may not take too much brains to realize that I have a slight obsession with Birkenstock. Growing up in a hippy state it is a person's birthright to own them. When I went to visit the college I am attending in the fall I got a lot of looks from the more "polished" of the students. A lot of people like to rag on Birkies just because of the look of their original Arizona style. That's why I was so excited to find this picture from Jak and Jill of a more stylish pair of Birkenstocks.
The Birkenstocks are the ones that the lady is wearing on the left. They are so beautiful and absolutely the most comfortable shoes in the universe. These shoes are a great alternative to the flip flops. I also have a crazy arch so the Birkies help with that. There are some really cute versions of these shoes and I urge everybody to check them out.

Shopping on the Cheap

I am the first one to admit that there aren't many shopping options in the city I live in. The vintage stores are filled with dirty, smelly clothes that are vintage, but not the vintage you would want to buy. The thrift stores aren't all that great either. And the main assortment of clothes stores is Aberzombie, Hollister, Old Navy, and Aeropostale. I usually spend my money at Urban Outfitters or one of the newer, chicer boutiques that are now appearing. Normally though I get my clothes online or out of state.

Mimi's Shopping on the Cheap Tips
1) Shop in states that don't have a sales tax on clothing. You can find out which states don't have a sales tax on clothing here.
2) Buy online. My favorite way to find things cheaper is using Beat My Price. Beat My Price is an awesome. All you do is type in an item, its price, where you found it and it serches its database for a cheaper buy! So cool!
3) Coupons. Coupons are important. I always look around at Retail Me Not, which is created by the same people as Beat My Price. It is always worth a shot to look around.
4) Rue La La. Rue La La is one of a few online boutiques. Rue La La has designer boutiques that are only on for two days and then after two days new boutiques come in. You have to get invited to it, my aunt invited me just for fun. Then the other day I saw that they had a boutique for Birkenstock sandals which are generally $120 and they were on sale for $59.99. I ended up paying about $63.00! I was so psyched.
5) Buy the essentials from stores like Old Navy, H&M, Target, and Zara. H&M, Zara, and TJ Maxx are all stores that are great to find fun pieces for a lot less. I buy a lot of my clothes at these stores and then splurge on shoes.
6) Always buy shoes that are worth it. If they are more expensive they will be more comfortable, last longer, and are better quality. Never skimp on shoes.

In this kind of economy it is growing increasingly important to shop smart.

Alternate Persona

When I was younger I always enjoyed making up characters that always ended up being a little like me, except they were bold, outgoing, and kick-ass. A recent post by Gala Darling inspired me to share one of these personas and show how she lived.

One of my favorite characters was Mimi, named after myself, because I always felt that I never lived up to the vivaciousness of my name. Mimi works in public relations for up and coming fashion houses. She promotes them and makes them famous and popular.

Monday by Maygs featuring Luella

On Monday Mimi had to run around the city a lot and any New Yorker knows that those sky high heels are a killer when catching taxis and walking up stairs, so she threw on her favorite pink flats. She opted for an all black ensemble that was simple so she could show off her favorite polka dot shorts. As she headed out the door she spied her favorite pink scarf that just happened to match her shoes and threw it on as she left the house.

Tuesday by Maygs featuring Stella McCartney shoes

On Tuesday Mimi went to work and afterward went shopping, and oops! She bought that new Moschino belt she had been coveting for weeks. Even though she swore she wouldn't buy anything if it wasn't on sale she had made a huge deal today and she decided to treat herself. Her flowery outfit needed the juxtaposition of her knuckle duster earrings to add just enough tough to an otherwise feminine ensemble.

Wednesday by Maygs featuring Converse shoes

Wednesday was date night with her guy. Instead of going out to a fancy restaurant, which is what she expected, he surprised her with a dinner set on the rooftop of his apartment. The dinner was complete with her favorite honey wine, a nice meal, music, and little white lights that twinkled the sky. Afterward they laid a blanket across the floor and watched the stars as they began to appear over the New York skyline.

Thursday by Maygs featuring Moschino accessories

Thursday Mimi had a meeting where she was presenting about a new design company she was representing. She wore one of their skirts to show that it was actually a wearable brand. But she threw on her new Moschino belt and her favorite sky high heels for confidence and to add a little something to her outfit. The meeting was a success and now all she had to do was get them noticed tomorrow at the gala being held for up and coming designers.

Friday by Maygs featuring Christian Louboutin shoes

On Friday Mimi had to attend the gala for up and coming designers that she had been planning for months and she fully planned to get her new label noticed by the fabulous people who would be attending. Her plan was to wear all designer labels, like her Christian Louboutin shoes, except for her dress which was the new labels design. This way everybody would be assuming it was a famous designer, but when they asked she could slyly give them the sales pitch on the designer.

Saturday by Maygs featuring Markus Lupfer tights

Saturday Mimi decided to stay in bed and work on a proposal she was working on. Although she has always been good at getting stuff in by her deadline, her guilty little secret was procrastinating while visiting chictopia or retail-me-not. She spent all day in bed working, reading her new books, and trying to catch up on some much needed Mimi-time.

Sunday by Maygs featuring Miss Selfridge shoes

On Sunday Mimi headed to the park with her girlies for a picnic in the park and some vintage shopping. On Sundays she loves to dress down in some shorts and casual shoes, to give her poor feet a break from a week in heels. On Sunday her boyfriend came over and they made sushi for dinner and watched the new romantic comedy that was just released.

Fashion Manifesto

Fashion is about having a good time. My clothes are meant to express who I am that day and that may change from day to day. Although I attempt to look chic but more importantly fashion is about self-expression, comfort, enjoyment, and art. Getting dressed should always be fun. If it isn’t fun, then there is no point in getting dressed and you might as well stay in wearing your sweats.

Fashion is about comfort. If I don’t feel comfortable in my clothes than I feel awkward all of the time. A day in uncomfortable clothes is hell. My favorite, hottest outfit is comfortable and chic at the same time. A day in this outfit makes me feel tall, confident, proud, strong, and sexy. My New Year’s Resolution is to always dress in the latter, so that I can always feel amazing.

Fashion is about being who you want to be. My style changes from day to day and that is just how I like it. It would be too boring to stay the same and not experiment. It is my teenage years and I just want to have fun. Having fun with fashion is not just about experimenting with different trends; it is also about being playful with what you have.

Although there are many people out there with amazing fashion sense. I am inspired by them but I will never copy another person. There are many people out there that have great fashion sense and many who do not. At times I may slip up and have an awful outfit day. This is forgivable, but I need to be able to laugh at my mistakes…just as I laugh at myself when I fall or trip.

Every outfit that I put on this year will have a touch of creativity and a touch of me in it. By trying new things in fashion I will become more daring in real life. Maybe I will be able to live the life I have dreamed of if I am able to dress and act like the person I sometimes think I am. I am me and dressing as I wish is only one way that I can express my individuality. 2009 will be my year.

Living in Vermont it is not uncommon for warm weather to evade us until the end of May and beginning of July. I am a May baby and I can personally attest to the fact that I usually could be skiing on my birthday. This year however we have a surprising week of warm weather. Yesterday it was 74 and today it was 77. That is a definite record for APRIL!!! Now let me remind you that Vermonters are the ones who done shorts and t-shirts the minute the thermometer hits 50 degrees, and sometimes even earlier. Can you imagine what people are doing now? Let me tell you. All the college kids who have been hibernating for winter and only coming out for classes, if they even do, and start coming down to the public beach. The public beach doesn't open until Memorial Day and it just so happens that my school is the closest building to the beach. So as I was leaving on the bus today, I am one of the few Juniors who don't have a car or friends who have a car, and I see countless college kids traipsing across the school lawns with their dogs (?) and Bud Lights. It is great to see everybody out and about...but they were parking in the student lot, faculty lot, and even the bus stop. I have it from my sources that there were even cars being towed. So, there is your update on my life...with absolutely no fashion involved. I am going to start working on another post right now. By the way, if there is anything that you would like to see on here I am working on a new theme to this blog, so please, please help me out with advice. I will give you some of my ideas in a later post.

Thread Heads at SXSW day 2, How-to make a Slack Dress

I strongly urge that everybody reading this should check out the SXSW videos by Threadbanger on Youtube. I especially enjoyed the one about how to make a dress out of a pair of men’s old slacks. I hope to make that this weekend, except I will give it my own touch with some tie straps, because I have a hard time with strapless dresses…if you’re a girl you probably know the reason why.

Fashion Withdrawal

I fear that I have been stuck in a severe case of fashion withdrawal that is caused by my many tired days. I have been wearing sweats, my "snow sneakers", and lots of layers that consist of under armor, long sleeved shirts, and sweatshirts. Not the most fashion forward week for me. Districts for skiing are fast approaching and races are becoming much closer together. The only sad thing about ski racing is the early hours and missing full days of school at least once a week. But I must say that clearly we are the most fashionable team out there. I mean seriously, who else gets to walk around in full body spandex and not a bad rap? Not that ski racers care about what people say they are the meanest, toughest, bad-ass group of people I have ever met. Seriously. I am totally seeing some parallels between

Here is a House of Holland spandex suit that I completely envy. If I was able to ski in something that awesome I would. Here is a pink version of the blue one I actually get to show off my smoking hot bod in. Actually the version that our school uses is much older and has much more holes.

But I am sure that you can see the parallels between House of Holland's body suit and the outfit that I am lucky enough to freeze my butt off in at least twice a week. Whoever said that snowboarders are cooler and more fashionable than skiers are seriously mistaken. NY Fashion week and London fashion week have been inspiring me so expect some posts coming at you soon.

The Hunt

I went on the hunt today for several things and armed with my trusty wallet filled with Christmas money I was prepared. Today was makeup day and because I had finished all my midterms I didn't have to attend. Sadly, I couldn't attend my ski race because of a doctor's appointment I was greatly depressed. What made it worse was when my hunt proved fruitless and I was unable to find several things on my list. So if anybody knows where I can get some cue leather boots and a nice slouchy bag. Please let me know. However, a rather expensive store in my mall, one of the few non-chain stores, was having a sale on everything in stock and I ended up getting a really beautiful ring. And the handmade jewelery store where I always manage to find something amazing in lived up to its reputation. I found this awesome necklace of a flying bird. Now, some outfits that have inspired me as of late.

I am loving this feminine collection just as much as I loved the bold Anna Sui collection. Again I believe that many of my outfits for the next while will be feeding off of these two amazing and yet completely different collections.

It is the second day of vacation and I have already started hitting the style.com fashion show archives. Always a bad sign. It means that I am trying to avoid chores that my mom has set out for me by “doing my homework”. In reality I am watching movies on youtube, searching style.com, and quickly switching to apnotes.com when my mom walks by the computer room. Anyways, while perusing through the spring 2008 fashion show collections I came across quite a few amazing collections that I have fallen in love with. Just Trust Me

Those were three words that I heard over and over again this weekend while I tried sushi for the first time. It was at a party for my aunt actually and it was catered. It was the most delicious food I have ever had. It is my new favorite. First I had yellow tail fish which was popped into my mouth unknowingly with a "Just trust me. It's my favorite" from my cousin. Afterwards California rolls and eel was descended upon me. I was a little hesitant to try eel, it was cooked, but after I did I was so happy. Thankfully, I ate most of my sushi before any of the guests started showing up. A few of them where sushi hos. They stood right by the sushi and swooped in on everything new. I seriously hip checked and elbowed a few of them to get one won-ton and a king crab thingamajig(which was GONE by the time I got there). I must say that I am now an official sushi aficionado. At the party there were gorgeous outfits, shoes, and desserts. Anyways I couldn't find the picture of the amazing shoes my friend was wearing. But they were chanel. I woke up today and I experienced a feeling of uptmost estaticism, is that a word? Truly I have no idea. For the first time this year snow lay on the ground. I had an awesome outfit picked out for today too. It was a plaid dress with a striped shirt over it, a red sweater over that, gray leggings pulled down over my ankles, and black flats. However the weather outfoxed me. There was no way that I would be able to get around with my just-a-bit-too-big flats and my treacherously(sp?) clumsy body. I almost slipped and fell on my face wearing sneakers because some genius decided to build our school on a hill. Seriously, a bit of dynamite would have totally solved that problem. Just kidding. All the stairs help me to keep my legs in tip top shape for ski season. So my question for all you readers out there is, How do you manage to maintain your individuality and originality in your clothes while still staying toasty warm. I am very tired...I caught some sickness from my cousins over Thanksgiving and I am feeling absolutely wretched. I have a piercing headache and a queesy (sp) stomach. When I feel sick I usually just watch tv and movies but alas today I had to do homework all day because I have school tomorrow. When I am sick I crawl into the cosiest clothes that I have, often times this consists of gray baggy sweatpants and a ratty old life is good sweatshirt. However, I am in the market for Christmas presents and I realized I could use a new pair of sweats/cosy/sick outfit. These are just a few of my favorites.

I am tired. But I tore myself away from the sleeping my body craves after my five hour drive to New York to wish you all a very happy thanksgiving. Having just finished reading the literary classic The Great Gatsby my Seminar on American Literature teacher assigned us a project. The options for this project were endless and bountiful. Of course, just as any fashion blogger I chose to create a project on flapper fashion. I had so many ideas for what I wanted to do, I hoped to create some clothes resembling flappers and bring them in. Time was against me, just as it is against Gatsby in the book, and I ended up doing a PowerPoint presentation on Fashion, Music, Literature, and Art in the 1920s. After that though, I found everywhere I went I saw clothes resembling some sort of fashion statement of the 1920s. All the outfits I have been creating, drawing, and wearing end up looking like they came out of the 1920s. I almost got my hair cut super short like a flapper would…but I have a round face and my hair stylist refused. Thank god, she did because somehow I doubt I could rock that style right now. Plus, my ears would get cold.

The end of the quarter absolutely sucks. For those of you unschoolers or homeschoolers or noschoolers out there for us public school folks it means that all of your teachers pile on tons and tons of tests, quizzes, essays, and homework. Basically I am mad at myself because I can't public speak an have been putting my speeches off until the last moment and now I am going to do really bad in the class. I feel so stupid. These aren't even real speeches, but I have to prepare myself and write up what I am going to say before hand because I shake uncontrollably. Anyone have any tips on how I can avoid total humiliation, that would be great.

College, Testing, and Essays, Oh My!

So sorry my dears for having abandoned you for so long. I went up to Canada with some friends for her sweet sixteen and did a bit o' shopping. Then I had to come home and scurry about to get my homework done. One plus is that I got a new cell phone. Nothing special except that becasue of the company my dead works for it was free. It was either this phone or a Razr. Ugh, I hate those things.

Anyways, I fear that I will have to leave you once again as I start my junior year of testing and plumping up my college applications. In the month of October I have multiple standardized tests along with the PSATs. I will be doing extensive volunteer work and hopefully will be finding myself a job so that I can actually pay for college. If any of you are in college and have any tips for good college tips please let me know because I am planning my college tour roadtrip soon.

I really hope that trend doesn't catch on. Especially since Cruggs sounds like some horrible new STD. I can totally see it.

My parents are driving me absolutely insane. I haven't even taken my PSAT's yet and my parents are already talking to me about college and going to college fairs. The thing is, even after I took my Careers class at school, which is supposed to help you "find yourself" I just got even more confused. So now I have no idea what I want to do with my life. My dad wants me to go to West Point or be a lawyer. My mom, who knows. I am going crazy because although I don't know what I want to do I know I don't want to be a lawyer, but I sure as hell don't want to go into the military. And end up fighting for a stupid endless war I don't believe in. Oh god. I am sorry. I try to post about my own life as little as possible but i needed to vent to somebody who wasn't going to judge me like all my "friends" at school.

I am guilty of owning a pair of Crocs which I wear down to the beach for work and when my feet hurt. But I do not think wearing those atrocious overused shoes out in public is good. Maybe when they were new, but now...everybody owns a pair of the hideous shoes. And now? Crocs has just announced they will be making an apparel line out of the same material. It is supposed to be spacesuit-esque. It will be in a range of complimenting colors for the shoes and other products. It makes me shiver to think of the people who will be wearing these clothes and the matching Crocs. I believe I will be having nightmares tonight.

Misshapes. The hottest hipster party around. A source for everyone who needs inspiration of breaking the rules of fashion. The rules of fashion which were made to be broken. If everyone followed the rules of fashion there would be no rebels and no trendsetters.

Hey everybody I am back in the blogosphere with new posts and goodies galore. There will be new DIY posts and I will be taking the blog to the next level. You will be truly experiencing my crazy and slightly cynical and odd personality. I am tired of buying clothes from the three stores that we have in our town that everybody buys from. American Eagle, Abercrombie and Fitch, and Hollister. Seeing everybody show up with the same outfit on makes me want to barf. They all wear a v neck t-shirt, a lacy cami, and jeans with a necklace underneath. Recently, I discovered that the farmer's market on Saturdays where I live is an amazing source for great one of a kind clothes. I got this shirt there that is the whole sexy Flashdance-esque top with the slashed top. So cute and the lady told me that this was one of two shirts she made just like this. I was super excited but sad that I did not bring more money. Oh well there is always next Saturday. She also had some awesome belts that I am hoping to pick up as well as some jewlery stands that I missed. Oh and there were some hoppin recycled dresses being sold, but I didn't buy them because they were made of t-shirts from our rival schools.

1. Whatever your schools t-shirt is. You need to show some school spirit at those football games and with style, of course! At my school we have special t-shirts for school games so its pretty awesome to see everybody wearing the same t-shirt.

2. I am really loving Etsy right now. What could be better that having your own handmade one of a kind skirt or sweater.

3. Make your own clothes! Recycle! Check out Thread Bangers on youtube for some great DIY tips. I have totally tried some of them and they work great. Especially the simple hemming of jeans and fitting of t-shirts which totally helps me because I am super short.

It was my first day of 11th grade and I have to say that it went ehh...I am taking the hardest course available to juniors. AP History. It was a heartattack to say the least. First day of school and he gives us a huge test. Although we knew it was coming it was still a shocker when it came to doing it. Anyways I am still trying to get out of my stupid bloggers rut, so if you have any suggestions PLEASE let me know. Today at school I was truly suprised to find the lack of fashion in my school. Okay, I am not suprised at all. Out here in the boonies town of New England there isn't much fashion. But come on, blue tank tops with sequins all over the front. Some weird manga head bands and shirts. And short skirts that freshmen wear without spandex and let everybody see their undies. I shiver to think of the horrendous fashion mistakes made today. And they weren't just freshmen fashion blunders. I saw enough upperclassmen fashion fo pauxs (yeah. I know that is the wrong way to spell it) to make me want to run to the bathroom and hurl during the middle of Physics.

So I went shopping yesterday with my sister and my mom for some back to school clothes. I didn't really find all that much. But what I did find, I love.

This super amazing cardigan from Gap. Super comfy and just amazing and warm. I love cardigans so much. plus my mom was yelling at me for not buying more winter clothes. I bought two t-shirts from Charlotte Russe (which I couldn't find pics of) but they are so adorable.

As much as I love this shirt, who wouldnt? It is making a statement through fashion. I really don't think I will wear it that much so I am going to return it to Urban and buy this sweater from Gap instead...I think. Plus This is one of those shirts that everyone is going to go out and buy and then it won't make a statement anymore.

I also bought a pair of gold leggings and pink tights from Urban because they were 2 for 20 dollars. I love tights and leggings so much, they will never be out of style for me.

I also bought a really cute headband at a local jewelry store. It is a double headband with ribbon and it is bale blue. The blue really stands out against my hair.

I finally saw Becoming Jane and I lurved it. It was awesome. I was smiling through the whole thing, even when I was crying. Even though I knew how it ended it was so sad that they didn't get together in the end. *gasp* Seriously that shouldn't be a spoiler. Everyone knows that Jane Austen and her sister Cassandra never married. I really liked some of Jane's (Anne Hathaway's costumes) they were very layered and inspiring for fall. Alright, I know that the romance between Austen and Lefroy was a flirtation at best in her real life. But it was a well made movie that incorporated a lot of her other books into it. And there was good costumes. Collar, sleeves, and bust really appeal to me.

Becoming Jane came out today and I am so excited to see it. First of all Anne Hathaway plays Jane and I think she is a gorgeous person. Second, I love movies about Jane Austen's stories. Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley is one of my most favorite movies. I am such a sucker for romantic stories and strong main characters. When those two are combined it is deadly for me. Third, the costume design for the movie looks amazing. What sucks is that I can;t find anyone to go with tonight and my sister is being stupid and won't go with me either. So basically I am in a really pissy mood. Especially since I have been doing AP History work the entire day.

Summer went by fast and I just realized that I have piles of AP History and AP Spanish work to do. Ugh. So I am already thinking about school. It's horrible to be thinking of school when there are still three weeks of summer left. Ah! Only three weeks. So I guess I really need to start doing that reading and getting supplies. And shopping for clothes. However my parents are cheap and are only giving my sister and I 200 dollars each for clothes and supplies. I don't know what I am going to do. However I did just snag a t-shirt from my work. Someone left one of our school t-shirts down at my work. I used to have one but I tried to make it into a skirt and it didn't really work. So I might have taken it and obviously I washed it. Besides it's not like they were going to come back and get it at the end of the season (I work for a public beach). So I feel completely justified. The clothes were being taken to the Salvation Army the next day anyways. Changing the subject...I have been trying to figure out what clothes I am going to spend my 200 dollars on.

I am sorry that I have not been posting that much, I have the excuse of not being here for the past three weeks. I was in Spain and Portugal for the past three weeks. It was cool. And now I am back. I had the expectation that I would be able to find a lot to blog about while I was over there but I sadly found nada that is worthy of talking about. I saw a lot of people who shouldn't wearing belly shirts. And the guys over there seem to thing muscle shirts/wifebeaters+jean capris+mullets(shiver)=hotness. Well I think the girls on my trip definitely proved that theory wrong. I am still having nightmares about mullets.

Inspiration Struck

Inspiration struck me while looking at some of the Fall 2007 Ready-to-wear pictures from Style.com. So instead of writing just about things I want I am going to try and write a piece of fashion journalism about some of my favorite designers.

Alexander McQueen

For the fall fashions Alexander McQueen has a lot of things going on. However I think that they all revolve around the same idea. His designs depict women of strength and power.

Warrior-

Strength and power exude from these outfits in an in-your-face way. You can't miss it. The plating of the breast and belly like armor is something that reminds us of war in the Middle Ages. I like that these outfits are distinctly feminine, there is nothing masculine about them and yet they are very strong and powerful. Arab influence is seen in the first outfit. The Warrior Women.

The Goddess-

These outfits remind of Greek goddesses. They also have power but more in the don't-anger-me-or-I-Will-Beat-Your-Butt way. Again, this is a very feminine form of power, not masculine in any way. The masculinity of outfits is the double standard of fashion for many female business women and political figures.

The Priestess-

These outfits remind me a lot of what a priestess of Avalon might wear. I just finished reading some of Marion Zimmer Bradley's books and this is definitely something that I think Rhiannon of Elen would wear. In these two outfits I can see some Arab influence.

The Ladies-

These outfits remind me a lot of what a lady might wear in the Middle Ages, again these outfits remind me a lot of strength, but more of the submissive kind. The lady that sits behind her husband whispering commands in her husband's ear. A Lady Macbeth kind of character would wear these dresses.

Balenciaga-

Balenciaga I was a little disappointed with. They recycled the old looks of last season with the whole boyish look. I was hoping to see some high waists and some new ideas added to the crazy mix that we call fashion.

Chloe-

I was happy with Chloe's designs because they incorporated the higher waists and the high waisted belts. The babydoll shirts, the plaid skirts. I am really liking the mixing of patterns and and the matching of patterns as well.

So although Tuesday was my last official day of school, finals ended that day, I still had to come back on Thursday for graduation practice and on Friday for graduation. It was so sad seeing all of the seniors graduating. I am going to miss some of them so much. They were a really great group of people who made the classes I had with them fun. I am a sophmore so I am in a few classes with them careers, spanish, computer lit, health, gym, and electives. So as a tribute to the graduating class of 2oo7 I will be doing a post on graduation outfits.

These are some of my favorite dresses that I think would be perfect for graduation. All of the dresses, except for the last one are from Anthropologie. The last one is from Charlotte Russe. Now, don't be too suprised but I am about to delve into a subject I know almost nothing about. Male fashion. Here is one of my ideas on what a guy should wear to graduation.

As I promised I am back. School has ended. The last exam was taken. All of my binders were destroyed in the annual attack on all learning. Basically my friends and I burn, hack at with azes, saw, hammer, and spray paint all of our binders and homework and take videos of it. I am sure that at some point I will figure out how to use my stupid digital camera and get the videos up at some point. So, for my first summer post I thought I should let you know that in two and half weeks I will be leaving for three weeks to go to... SPAIN! I am so ecstatic. This will be the first time I have been to Europe, well really the first time out of this country and I am going with a bunch of friends. I am posting some of the clothes that I am planning on bringing with me for Spain. If anybody knows about the fashions in Spain please tell me, I don't want to stick out more than I normally do.

So I know I said no posting until the end of school but I went shopping today and just couldn't resist. I have never done a post on things I have actually bought, nor a post on bras and undies. So today is that day. More on undies and other things I bought since all the bras I got where a nude color or blue. No fun ones come in my size. I was sad. Soooo... all of these bras and panties are from VS. However, I strongly think a person should try out many different styles and that means many different stores. On the other hand, VS bras are very well made and they were having a sale.

I bought this dress at Old Navy and I absolutely love the way that this dress drapes and how easygoing it is.

I Swear I Am Not Abandoning You Guys

So I am really not abandoning you. The only thing is that I really need to pass all my finals this year. And that means studying. So, although I am lucky this year and only have to take 4 exams out of my eight classes. We did projects or took the final previous to the exam dates. I still need to study for my last two. Geometry and English. After that I have one glorious day of freedom before I have to go back to school for graduation and then graduation practice. The sad thing is I am not even graduating. I am in my school band and am one of like two clarinets so I have to be there to play Pomp and Circumstance 20 times as well as every other song we have played this year. So I swear to you all I will be back and posting in a few more days.

So Thursday is my birthday and I am getting really excited. Not only is it my sixteenth birthday but my birthday gift is a trip to Spain. True, it is an educational trip that is supposed to prepare me for my AP exams and make me more fluent in Spanish. I will be staying with a host family and going to school for three hours a day. But after that we have the rest of the afternoon free...in Spain to vist cultural sights and shop. Plus nine other kids from my school will be going and I will be rooming with a friend. I just got this new book called Essential Fashion Illustration: Poses. It has pictures of every pose that you will ever need to use in fashion illustration. Here is my first try:

When Yvan left Paris, I wasn't sure what to expect but I am finding some of the London styles very nice. Such as:

I am really loving this street style blog that I found, Stilin Berlin. I really am wishing that there was a street style blog in Burlington, ahh but that is not the case. I love the way this girl uses layers and had used the leggings in a nice way, which to are not going to get old as I like to wear them a lot. I Feel So Hip!

I have a dress that is just like this one, only shorter. I think it is supposed to be larger and I jsut grew too tall for it but I usually wear it under jeans because I don't have any tights that match brown. But when I saw this girl, from the Sartorialist, wearing her dress I had an epiphany and am going to try and find some opaque or solid silver or gold or yellow tights.

And her hair...that is how I want to get mine cut. I am going for the shorter lengthes because it is summer(almost) and for me that signifies short hair. Plus my hair seems to reach my shoulders and then stop growing. I love how she wore the turtleneck with her dress, it makes it much less showy, I know my wrap dress definitely displays some cleavage which my school tends to frown upon. I know by now I have talked about almost everything that has to do with this outifit, but I love it. Her shows are beautiful and how she wears no jewelery...I love it. She seems so confident with her outfit that she doesn't need any jewelery.

Well as many of you who live in New England will know the crocs sensation has been hitting the nation, at least New England for the past ehhh..year. Maybe. Well, I recently bought a pair, not because they're cute. Which they're not. I had a problem with my back and feet these shoes really helped me. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. The classic beach croc is my favorite while the mary janes are not so much my favorite.

I was seriously suprised when I saw that Crocs were making boots and flats! I may just have to get me some. The shoe molds to the shape of your foor and is slip resistant. I have to say that after having these shoes (beach in purple) they are starting to grow on me!

I appreciate the fact that stylish celebrities are marketing their style by creating lines of clothing that epitomize their style. Bitten, Kate Moss for Topshop, and The Row are all some examples. However, one is just not like the other. Bitten and Kate Moss for Topshop are wearable and affordable while The Row is wearable, maybe, but not affordable. SJP's Bitten line is going to sell for $19.98 or less! Style with affordability.

The Plan Was A Success

Well I realize that I did not post the results of DIY day on the day I announced. This is because I was having so much fun that I kept at it until Friday. Finally I have the results and I have to say that I had a ton of fun. I patched up a shirt that I had bougth at Charlotte Russe a few days ago and the button popped off. Instead of resewing on the button with the original color thread I used pink thread. I have to say it looks so much better now.

I also re-threaded a necklace that had broken in an unfortunate accident that involved water, jeans, a necklace breaking, and the person whose pants had gotten wet finding all the beads on a moving bus. Well, I found all the beads and made a necklace/earring set out of them.

One of my personal favorite is this really long necklace that can either be worn as a necklace or bracelet. It was fun to make, but took me a long time to complete. I watched a few Hogan's Heroes and Grey's Anatomy episodes though so I was ok.

Another of my favorite pieces is just a simple pendant but i took inspiration from those necklaces at Urban that hang low and fall right below your bust.

DIY Day

I am officialy proclaiming Thursday my DIY day of the month. I will be completing severel projects that have been hanging around that I have been meaning to finish. Or start. Some of these include tea dying (inspiration and picture courtesy of Style Bubble)

My next project is an old Elle Girl DIY project by the designers of LaRok. It is a scarf made out of tea doilies. It is such an old project that I can't find it in the Elle Girl archives but they have some other good projects.

My next project is inspired by the Naughty Secretary Club's ChaCha bracelets. Possibly a bracelet and necklace version of these will be happening during DIY day.

While out shopping today I picked up a DIY t-shirt book from Urban Outfitters. I have no idea if I will find any good ideas in that Generation T, if anybody has read it please tell me if it is a waste of time or not, but I plan on using some old baggy t-shirts and having some fun.

Spring Fashion has arrived

You truly know that spring has arrived when you see the outdoor restaurants opening up, you have to roll down the car windows, and when skirts and knee highs are the fashion people are rocking.

I love this girl's outfit so much. It has mostly a gray palate but a red shirt underneath and red shoes over the gray knee highs. It just screams cute and chic.

The Era of Celebrities Modeling is Ending?!?

I don't know about everyone else, but I personally find it refreshing that models are actually beginning to model again. It was sad that celebrities who originally were actors are now singing, modeling, philanthropists as well. By pushing models out of the picture the magazines featured "real people" who are even less real than supermodels. See the video of what Jonathan Van Meter says about this same topic.

The cover for the May 2007 Vogue is just beautiful with 10 new models on the cover that simply embody the spirit of the Spring fashions this year. All elegance and beauty, but every last one of them looks strong and powerful.

I just loved the look of Vogue's May 2007 cover shoot so I went shopping for an outfit that would give me the same feel.

I switched it around a bit. Instead of dark on bottom and light on top it is dark on top and light on bottom. I feel that this outfit still evokes the highpowered feeling, especially the skinny belted white pencil skirt. With the pinstripes on the shirt it gives this outfit a business like feeling but the trim is very feminine. The accessories simply shout fun. I couldn't choose just one accessorie from the Naughty Secretary Club because they are all devine. So I chose a lot for you to pick and choose from.

Wish List for Spring

Lately I have been enamored with high waisted pants and skirts. I really want to buy some high waisted baggy pants, like the big ones. So far I am settling with the high waisted pants and skirts that I dug out of my mothers closet. I think I need to buy some of my own though.

For those of you who say the waist is out check out the Zac Posen Spring 2007 video posted below this post and observe how most outfits wither rest on the waist or cinch at the waist. This has inspired me to look for some nice spring jackets.

The wide leg pants are such a relief for me, who who cannot wear a skinny jean without looking huge.

Some of the shoes that I have been looking at lately are dainty ballet flats, fun wedges, and classy heels.

I tried to pick just a few shoes but I couldn't. I have to say the red heels with the bows and the blue heels are my favorite along with the polka dot heels.

For me this spring is all about looking feminine and strong but having fun with the fashion as well. This is a major difference from my winter feeling of bold colors. Maybe it was time for a change though.

Bathing suit shopping. personally I hate it, however I am spending three weeks this summer in Europe and plan on having the best bathing suit I can possibly afford. Some of my favorites are

Getting confirmed soon. Kinda excited, kinda nervous. But, hey it is just one more occasion to buy a new outfit. I bought a dress, seeing that it is spring I was kind of expecting it to be a pretty quick trip. It took me over an hour to find a good dress that matched the requirements of my church. No spagetti straps, modest neckline, below the knees, no high heel shoes. Yeah, they need to add that type of dress to the Endangered Species list because it took me over an hour to find a good dress that matched those requirements. And once I found it I still had to buy a cami for under it and black sweater to go over it. It was a halter which falls in the category of spagetti straps (still doesn't cover shoulders) and it went a little too low.Here's the outfit. Comment if you think it needs something.

Shop for dresses of course. I am really liking some of the ones from Anthropologie lately. Probably because I could never afford any of them, but a girl can dream can't she? This dress from Anthropologie is $89.95 on sale. I am weird in the way that I don't like graphic prints unless they are BIG. Tiny, wimpy ones are just not my style.

Another dress from Alloy that I am in lurve with is the babydoll dress. It is pretty cheap, $39.50 and comes in black too. This is a dress that could be dressed up or down. It has great potential.

I found some really great dresses of Nordstrom. Both at about $50.

Mud Season!

It's official. It's the middle of April and a Nor'easter warning has just been announced. Is spring ever going to come. Well, you know what they say... The fifth season in Vermont is the Mud Season. It is very true. By the time I got home today my brown and pink Vans and my socks were completely soaked through. So I think it is time to break out the rain boots. I don't have any. But I plan to order some tomorrow. Target has them for only $19.99!!! Here are some of my favorites. Beware there are a lot.

There are so many styles so if you live in a palce where it is cold and wet around this time of year and want to look stylish, or even if it isn't wet you should check it out.

So it is completely official, I am the world's biggest idiot. Not only here I am blogging to you guys when I should be studying for a Spanish test and memorixing lines from a Shakespeare play but I also accidently flagged my previous blog.
